Elbow Cushions, 2021
mdf shelf, felt, arduino board, cotton, stuffing
50 x 35 cm

This is a pair of elbow cushions. Within the cushions are pressure sensors sewn inside. When the participant pushes their elbows into the cushions, sounds will play. The pressure and movement of elbows will organise the sounds' dynamics and timings. Sounds are composed by Simon Roth using bottles and hi-hat cymbals.
Hannah Dinsdale
Working across sculpture, textiles and installation, my work features soft objects such as cushions, heavy weighted blankets and forms of seating. My research explores physical and intimate feelings, and tensions of how we experience comfort. I often work collaboratively, interested in how we arrive at ideas that are personal and collective.
