30°, gentle cycle is an early exploration of care labels; defined as permanent tags that contain regular care information and instructions, attached in such a way that it won’t be separated, and will remain legible during the useful life of the product. The labelling theory states that as members of society begin to treat individuals based on the basis of their labels, the individuals begin to accept the labels themselves. How can we direct our attention to the symbols of care that we give to ourselves, based on the labels we have consciously and subconsciously adopted? Taking the time to crochet and assemble this specific item allows space for me to think about what my own symbols of care would consist of.
