Video – paper, pencil, pen, wool, jersey fabric

Hands on! Drawings flooded out. I’ve really missed making with my hands - the solace found in touching physical materials and actively getting lost in processes. Voice and body weave their way between punctuations on paper’s surface, exploring notions of wayfaring, navigation and distance. Orange and blue bring temperature and energy to the conversation. Pricked holes are traversed by wool, forming connections between different elements. Gaps, holes, portals. Wall laughed. Jump!

I am interested in the ways in which we navigate our environment, drawing attention back to the space in-between and to the process of moving through. The often temporary, playful and humorous interventions I make in the landscape are like punctuation marks, a pause, enabling me to explore different ways of breathing life into so-called inanimate objects and elements. Objects, photographs and recordings are a way in which to translate these transient experiences beyond the moment, acting as mementos of feelings and portals back to a certain time and place.
