This work illustrates the search of the ideal body and mind, the search for perfection and happiness. We think about the perfection of the fruit; easy to consume and easy to digest. These fruits are so perfect they are not fruits anymore. We feel the pressure of a consumerist society based on image and artifices. Are these fruits real or fake? Fruits are genetically modified; like the modifications we make on our bodies in search for identity or perfection. The fruit is a clin d’oeil to Adam and Eve’s apple. The apple is the symbol of beauty and at the same time the symbol of danger; a metaphor for women’s bodies.

I use imagery around the female body to question what is the ideal feminine, should the female body be an ideal and how this quest for the ideal becomes an act of violence against our bodies. I play with the idea of synthetic, artificial and what is real and what is fake. I often juxtapose virtual images and tangible objects and the tactile becomes an important part of my work. I explore how we choose to display our feminine selves and transform the body as a medium, a surface.
