Weaving together, 2021
Jute rope dyed with blueberries, jazmin plant and pot

I am inspired by some expressions that people use when they knit or weave, such as "the textile is growing", "It is going to tell me the next step". These suggest that the textile holds "living qualities," becoming an entity with an own existence. The piece shows the interaction between a Jazmin plant and a textile made by the artist; this last one is based on an ancient pattern called the "flower of life", which is one basic geometrical structure present on many living forms.
The plant will grow/sew/climb around the knitting during the show, becoming a living column in the gallery space. This project reflects on how humans could engage with nature from a caring, emphatic, and non-predatory perspective. How can we (humans and plants) sew together? How can we coexist?
